How do you assess fashion brands?
Our methodology involves an in-depth analysis of company annual and sustainability reports, along with other publicly available information. We examine the production volume of garments (if available), the breakdown of raw materials used in production, and historical GHG emissions. We also evaluate the company’s climate-related targets and the strategies in place to achieve them. Additionally, we review whether the company has an Animal Welfare policy and how it treats people throughout its supply chain.
How do you know if garments are sustainable?
We have ranked all existing materials and developed a calculator that scores each garment based on the textile used in its production and whether the garment is new or pre-loved. Pre-loved clothing made from the most sustainable material (certified recycled non-blended hemp) receives the highest score of 10. Other garments are scored from 0 to 10, depending on their environmental impact. In addition, we evaluate the overall practices of the company, giving priority to slow fashion over fast fashion.
How should I address my request?
You can use your own words. For example: “I need a women’s navy or green jumper to wear to work. My budget is under £100. I wear a size 10 and live in the UK.” The more specific details you provide, the more precise our suggestions will be. You can also start with a simple “Hello,” and we’ll reply with a suggested structure for your request.

What do you mean by “We are testing the idea of Find Sustainable”?
We are currently doing this work pro bono to test the concept of a sustainable shopping assistant. At this stage, we are testing it in the format of a chat with real people, which is why your feedback is so important! If the concept proves successful, we plan to invest more time and resources into developing a fully-featured, AI-assisted product with enhanced capabilities.
